There were many people possessed by demons in our church. They got married to their husbands and had children, but they couldn’t communicate with their husbands or children, so they became depressed and became possessed by demons because of this.
A story of a sister
A sister couldn’t sleep at night and had a fever that went up and down, so she was diagnosed several times at a military hospital. The hospital said that there was nothing wrong with her health, but she was dying. She said that she would go to the hospital one more time to get diagnosed, and asked me to pray after the Wednesday service. While praying, I thought that I had to cast out the demon from this sister.
When I asked the demon who you were, the demon said, “I’m her sister,” and “I’m her father.” When I asked it when you came in, It said that it was during the Korean War. Hey, Demon, you’re talking nonsense. She wasn’t even born at that time, and I asked it if you are lying when you said, “I’m her sister,” and “I’m her father.” And when I asked what your name was, It said, “Kyung-soo Cho.” But this sister was Ga-young Kim. When I pressed the demon about lying in front of the name of Jesus, the demon said “ I would tell the whole story. During the Korean War, I was a police officer, and one of my friends was a bad guy who did something wrong and was arrested by the police. The friend believed that I would save him, but I did not help him, so he held a grudge and lived with him.
When the war broke out, he came out of the detention center with a gun, came at night, and killed my elder daughter who was sleeping next to me and herself. That night, his pregnant wife visited her parents’ house and escaped the ordeal. After that, she married a man with the last name Kim and gave birth to her pregnant daughter.
But Ga-young Kim said she had no idea about this. The next day, when she told her mother in Korea what the demon had said, her mother was shocked and asked how she knew all this. This father’s demon was gentle. Your daughter has now become a child of God by believing in Jesus, so I told the demon that you cannot stay inside her, so I told it to leave. The demon left at once and never came back.
Some demons leave obediently, and some demons are very clever and stubborn and refuse to leave. Some demons act very strongly at first and then quickly leave, and some are very gentle and say they will leave, so I believed they would leave, but they hide and act cleverly.
When rumors of these things spread, church members from various churches came to ask me to cast out the demons. One time, when I was about to hold a Wednesday service, the wife of a pastor who had spoken badly of me brought her 14-year-old daughter and offered her $300 in offerings, asking me to save her daughter. I refused the offering, instead of offering to her own church. and said I would cast out the demon. She was possessed by a demon, but her symptoms were getting worse. I asked the demon inside her when it entered her, and it said it was in middle school. The demon said it entered because she hated her rival friend. Her father, a famous revivalist pastor in Korea, was invited to many churches in Korea to lead revival meetings, but when his daughter was possessed by a demon and her symptoms became serious, he fled to the United States.
He was a famous pastor, so he came to the United States easily, and while he was doing ministry work, he criticized me for exorcising the demon even though his own daughter was possessed by a demon. His wife brought her daughter to me, but the demon said it would go away so easily and hid itself. After the Wednesday service, I started to cast the demon, but it was so persistent. I couldn’t cast it out all night long. The night turned dawn. I thought I couldn’t do it anymore and decided to stop. I felt so sorry for her that tears welled up in my eyes. She said later she looked into my eyes when she left. Several years passed. I wondered how she would get through this. After finishing my ministry in El Paso, I was working as an associate pastor at a church in Los Angeles when a young couple came to see me. They called the church in El Paso and found out where I was living, and they came to see me. The husband said that his wife kept telling him that she had to see me, so she came to see me.
I found out that it was that sister. She said that she was completely fine from that day after she broke up with me. She went to college, got married, and lived, and she said that the pastor’s eyes that looked at her pitifully on the morning she broke up with him were always good to her heart. So she wanted to meet the pastor and show him that she was living a healthy life.
Recently, a pastor who lives in New Jersey called me after seeing our church website. He asked me what I thought about his learning how to cast out demons, and I told him that if he wanted to do ministry, he shouldn’t do it. I said that if you were to do such a ministry, you would be okay with it if you were to heal sick believers in your congregation, but if you were to use the ministry to gather church members, or if you were to feel proud because the demons were cast out, you would face great difficulties. If you cast out demons, the possessed will come. Then, it would be a nuisance to normal believers, and the demons would interfere with the pastor’s ministry. If you really want to cast out ghosts, I told you to specialize in exorcisms.
Spiritual Training
When I was a pastor, I held ten official services a week. Sunday morning service, Sunday evening service, Wednesday service, Friday service, and five daily early morning and district group services. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and on Thursday, I held three district group services.
God told me to fast and pray, so I fasted twice for 21 days. I originally planned to fast for 40 days, but I failed. The fasting prayer director made me drink ice water while fasting. I gave up fasting and praying twice because my stomach hurt. Later, I read a book about fasting and it said that I should drink warm water, so I tried again and succeeded. One year, I even fasted for almost 100 days. I suffered through fasting training periods of one week, ten days, and ten days, during which I would even spew feces out of my mouth. Since there weren’t many believers, I would often go to a fasting prayer center and fast for one week or ten days.
There was a Southern Baptist prayer center in New Mexico, two hours away from El Paso. Since there weren’t many believers, I often went to a prayer center and fasted for a week or ten days. It was a dense forest near El Paso, a subtropical area. but it snowed a lot in the winter and there was a ski resort. In the winter, I fasted and prayed alone in the dense forest, and God helped me understand the words of the Bible and taught me about the millennium. That’s when I started studying the Book of Revelation. And I was able to read an entire volume of the Grand Comprehensive Commentary. In this way, God gave me strong spiritual training while I was in El Paso.
